The communion of saints is such a solid doctrine that it can be overwhelming. Worse, we can become complacent and miss the directions God is always sending us.
God sanctifies time and place especially through the sacraments, prayer and intercession of the saints. What happens when several of them line up? They have an outpouring of grace that can work wonders.
Are you willing to do some digging to find the saints who have been a part of your spiritual life for years, even decades?
Two caveats. First, every Catholic must pray with Mary, Queen of Saints. Second, it is perfectly acceptable to pray with those who are on the path to holiness: those who are blessed, venerable, or servants of God.
1. The saint of the day
Especially for those working in the world, it can be easy to overlook the saint of the day. Even a brief daily prayer with the saint of the day requires one of God's most direct means of sanctifying time and place.
2. The saint of your baptism

The unfolding of his baptismal graces occurs throughout his life. In other words, this saint can be a friend and guide for life.
3. Your confirmation saint
You probably chose this saint yourself. How is your devotion to this saint? Saying “yes” to the promptings of the Holy Ghost is a daily act, and your confirmation saint can be a great helper.
4. Her eponymous saint
It is likely that someone else chose your name for you. If it is the name of a saint, you have a constant reminder of that saint's patronage: a great person to pray with.
5. Her second saint of the second name
You probably have a middle name, not your confirmation name that someone chose for you. What is the story behind this name? If it is a saint, does that saint's example bring another aspect of holiness to ponder and act upon?
6. Your birthday name

7. The saint of your first confession
He or she probably helped you make a good first confession. And this saint can continue to be a special helper to receive God's mercy.
8. The saint of your first communion
This saint was delighted to see that you received the greatest gift: Christ himself. Just as parents and godparents celebrate the First Communion of their children, so the saints who see their spiritual children receive the Eucharist on their feast day. A good person to pray with before receiving communion or during adoration.
9. A saint of your career in general
If you are a writer, Saint Francis de Sales should be someone to pray with. Good old St. Florian for firefighters and St. Matthew's if you're an accountant. As many of us struggle to keep work in its proper place, not too much not too little, the patron saint of our work can be of great help.
10. A saint from your specific workplace
If there is a Saint associated with your specific workplace, such as the Augustinian Institute, name that Saint! You have a few options if your place is associated with an order, e.g. B. a Jesuit college; Your special building may even be named after a saint.
11. A saint from your diocese or region
Catholic dioceses are rightly grateful to their patrons. Cardinal Raymond Burke used to invoke Saint Louis, King of France, when he was Archbishop of Saint Louis.
